One Time Mock Draft
Evaluation

One Time Fantasy Sports Mock Draft Results
Cartoons, what a perfect way to name mock draft teams. Here is my evaluation of the One Time Fantasy Sports Mock Draft. This will probably be the only mock draft where the staff experts do one with IDPs. The full lineup with IDPs makes this a unique Mock and will serve anyone who would draft in a full rostered IDP league.
Team Simpsons
Delhomme and McNabb at QB is solid, but with this being a two starting QB league, the team is lacking depth and may be empty during bye weeks. Brown and Jones could be a surprisingly solid RB combo. They also have solid depth at the position with Reggie Bush, Ricky Williams and Leon Washington. The presence of Williams and Washington keep them from being devastated by injuries, so it was a nice handcuff job here. They have terrific WRs getting both Randy Moss and Houshmandzadeh, along with solid depth. Umenyiora headlines a solid DL corp. Beason and Ernie Sims anchor the LBs, but the DBs are not that strong.
Team Deputy Dawgs
They selected an outstanding corps of QBs in Roethlisberger, Hasselback, and Schaub. Steven Jackson and Jamal Lewis make a strong foundation at RB, but this team lacks depth at the position with only McAllister as a back up. This team seemed to be going for High Risk-High Reward at WR with Lee Evans, Devin Hester, and Bryant Johnson. They did select Carolina’s Steve Smith, but he will miss the first two weeks. They drafted well at the TE position with Kevin Boss, Randy McMichael, and Dallas Clark. On DL they again went with the High Risk-High Reward approach with Cole and Freeney. They seemed to have forgotten that LBs are the foundation of an IDP roster, but they did a solid job with DBs. Overall, this team took too many risks and will not get enough reward.
Team Anamaniacs
The QB position is questionable having Romo and Tarvaris Jackson, with Croyle as the backup. They have solid RBs with Gore and McGahee, and a nice handcuff with Ray Rice. However, they lack depth at RB. WRs are very solid, led by Andre Johnson. This team has two solid, but injury prone, TEs in Heap and Crumpler. They are solid on the DL and great at the LB position, but lacking at DB. This team’s strength is the WR and LB, where they have top starters and good depth. After Romo, the QB position is a hope and prayer. The RB position lacks depth, but taking Rice as a handcuff to McGahee may prove valuable.
Team Yakky Doodle Ducks
Brady and Kitna are as good as any QB combo, but having Trent Edwards as your backup is a concern. They have a good and deep set of RBs, however all but Lynch is in a RBBC situation. They have a very solid and deep WR corps, but lacks stud power except for Braylon Edwards. They will work with high risk-high reward TEs led by Vernon Davis. However, TE is probably the best position to play that game with. On the DL they have no studs but a solid consistent group. Also, the same can be said of the LB crew but they are solid from top bottom with good depth. They are weak at S and may be forced to use depth elsewhere to shore up this position. Overall, this will be a formidable team that lacks of stud power IDP, which could ultimately hurt it. Also they have a bye week issue at RB.
Team King of the Hills
King of the Hills are very weak at QB with Jay Cutler and a couple of young guys. However, Jason Campbell could surprise with their soft schedule. They have a solid group of RB led by Westbrook and Grant and they have solid depth. They possess a strong WR corps led by Chad Johnson and Wes Welker, but lack depth at the position. At TE, they have Witten, which is enough said when you can bag the top TE. The IDPs here are extremely strong at all positions, almost like they sacrificed offense for the IDP. This will be a strange fantasy team where the top strength is the IDP, but it has enough offense to be competitive.
Team Foghorn Leghorns
This team is solid at QB with Young and the Manning Brothers, but they are in a little bye trouble with both Mannings off at same time. The RBs are average, but average top to bottom with a little luck here and there could be better in real life than on paper. An excellent corps of WR top to bottom is led by Bowe and Wayne. This would be an almost ideal corps of WRs for a dynasty team. TEs are solid, especially if Shockey stays healthy. The IDPs are strong but not great, but there are some potential for big games there.
Team Catdogs
The Catdogs are OK at QB with Garrard and Bulger, along with the Bears’ duo at the backup spot. They managed to get LT and Portis at RB, and you can’t get a better combo in a fantasy draft and it will never happen in a real draft. A WR corps consisting of Driver, Fitzgerald, Holt, Engram, and Stallworth is as strong as any. Add to that Antonio Gates and you have a solid offense. The IDPs are exceedingly strong with a super stud or two at each position. This is a very strong team and will be hard to beat because it has no glaring weakness.
Team Magilla Gorillas
A very good QB corps was gathered by this team but it has a bye week issue and might want to trade Rivers for Manning to solve the same problem for the team that has the Manning brothers. But with the exception of the bye problem, they have the best QB combo in the draft. There’s a solid RB corps with AP and Turner, but lacks depth. There are solid WRs with no stud, but has good potential to be consistent producers. TE is solid and deep, led by Winslow. The IDPs are good with some stud power and are deep at LB, which is where fantasy defenses need to be strong.
Team Bananas in Pyjamas
They are good at QB with Palmer and Rodgers, but they lack depth. Addai and Barber make up the RB corps and have some depth with Julius Jones. There’s a very strong WR corps top bottom led by super studs Colston and TO. TEs are OK to good if healthy, but both are injury prone. And they top it off with a studded IDP crew.
Team Flintstones
Derek Anderson and Favre are the starting QBs, supported by Leinart/Warner and Pennington, which is probably the deepest QB group in the league. They have good RBs led by LJ and a nice WR corps. Tony Gonzalez is at TE, but there is no depth behind him. They drafted a solid IDP core with one or two strong DBs to build around.
The best teams are supremely balanced from top to bottom but may not have super depth at any position. But if not decimated by injuries, they will be tough to beat. They are 1) Catdogs, 2) Banana’s In Pyjamas, and 3) Simpsons. Two others that will be very competitive are 4) Deputy Dawgs, and 5) Flintstones
The bottom five are just lacking something, but each different. The best of the rest is the Magilla Gorillas, leaving Anamaniacs, Yakky Doddle Ducks, King of the Hills, and Foghorn Leghorns battling for the toilet bowl. I would expect the Ducks and Leghorns to be the toilet bowl contestants.
Five best picks in the draft
Bob Bell’s Opinion:
1) Catdogs: last pick in the second round – Clinton Portis just amazing that he was there.
2) Banana’s in Pajamas: fourth pick in the fourth round – Houshmandzadeh, top five WR that late = a steal.
3) King of Hills: second pick in the fifth round – Wes Welker. Even if he only gets 80% of what he got last year, that’s still a 1000 yards and almost 90 catches.
4) The Simpsons: ninth pick of the fifth round – Ronnie Brown. When healthy, he’ll carry the team.
5) Catdogs: last pick in the sixth round – Antonio Gates. Best TE this late is a no brainer.
Brian Jester’s Opinion:
1) Marion Barber – 2.04 – Bananas in Pyjamas – Incredible value in the second round as he normally goes in the late first.
2) Calvin Johnson – 7.06 – Yakky Doodle Ducks – I have no idea how he fell this far. He’ll be top 10 this year and is the steal of the draft at this point.
3) Clinton Portis – 2.10 – Catdogs – Not sure how Portis fell this far.
4) Matt Forte – 12.01 – Foghorn Leghorns – I don’t like Forte at all, but even I’ll take him if he slips past the 6th round.
5) DeAngelo Williams – 17.03 – King of the Hills – With Stewart’s toe injury lingering, Williams is a great pick this late.
Five worst picks in the draft
Bob Bell’s Opinion:
1) Flintstones: third pick in the second round – Laurence Maroney. Too high for Maroney, an RBBC guy.
2) Banana’s in Pajamas: seventh pick of the seventh round – Patrick Willis. Too early to take an IDP.
3) King of the Hills: eighth pick of the eighth round – DeMeco Ryans. Too early for an IDP.
4) Flintstones: eighth pick of the seventh round – Brandon Marshall. A guy suspended three games and coming back from a serious wrist injury, are you kidding me?
5) Flintstones: third pick of the fourth round – Plaxico Burress. Injury prone, malcontent, whining about money, and having Rosenhaus as an agent is not good.
Brian Jester’s Opinion:
1) Laurence Maroney – 2.03 – Flintstones – Agree with Bob here. Maroney should never be taken this high considering his situation.
2) Fred Taylor – 3.08 – Flintstones – I feel that Freddy is always overlooked, but he could have gone 2-3 rounds later.
3) Ed Reed – 13.08 – Flintstones – Wow, third “bad” pick by the Flintstones. Ed Reed shouldn’t have even been drafted, as he hasn’t finished in the top 30 DBs in the last 3 years.
4) Michael Turner – 2.09 – Magilla Gorillas – I’m struggling to find bad picks as I don’t think there are many in this draft. However, Turner could have gone a round later, so this might be a little bit of a reach.
5) Antonio Cromartie – 17.10 – Foghorn Leghorns – See the Antonio Cromartie Player Debate for my reasoning.
